Last weekend, 19 March 2011, in Rovaniemi was organized the 56th Arctic Circle Ski Marathon. It is organized near the Artic Circle by Ounasvaaran Latu assosiation. Skiers can enjoy beautiful landscape, changing from hills to riversides. The route goes also through the city of Rovaniemi and ends to Ounasvaara hill skiing stadium.
Construction is progressing according to plans and the project has advanced well. The complex’s first building’s log frame has been completely assembled and at the moment is going on the assembling of roofing material. Roofing’s contractor this project is the first experience of log houses and he told he is impressed of the quality of Ikihirsi log.
Being so proud of being part our project, he wanted to have 
some kind of miniature that he could take as a memory. At the first part of complex, next in order is the assembling of windows.
IKIHIRSI in cooperation with MAKI HOUSES are preparing for WOODEN HOUSE EXHIBITION in Moscow
IKIHIRSI in cooperation with MAKI HOUSES (our dealer in Moscow) is participating in VII International Exhibition “WOODEN HOUSE” (Moscow), an event which actually opens a new building season. It will take place in WEG “Crocus Expo”, hall № 1, rooms № 3, 4 from March 23 to March 26. Our stand is D 4-1.
The visitors of our stand will have an opportunity to see the output of IKIHIRSI and to ask any questions concerning its production. Our company has also prepared the long-awaited special offers on the most popular log house models.
Moreover during the exhibition the expert from IKIHIRSI will be presented at the stand to consult the visitors on projecting, production, delivery and constructing of log houses.
POLAR NIGHTS
Dark nights, day less days and a hiding sun; they make Lappish winter and polar nights. Silent darkness starts already in November, when people, animals, even the arctic pines in forests say goodbye to sun which won’t show its face for three months. The whole Lapland rests till January, when sun slowly starts to climb on the sky again.
Log houses in Kemijärvi manufacturing IKIHIRSI® Oy’s production is running close to full speed. Company is experiencing feelings of optimism first time in couple of years. Global recession hit hardest the export companies, which has experienced also Ikihirsi Oy, whose production is 80% exported. However, we have been able to adapt to difficult market conditions with strict regulation of costs, which has creditable took part the whole personnel, tells the managing director Mr. Pentti Koskenranta.
At the moment export is clearly rising, as the recession begins to let up. In many countries clients have deferred the start of their building projects, which has caused buying repression in the markets. Furthermore, in several countries government attempts to promote the building of ecological wooden houses ia. with different kinds of legislative measures. This year we are looking forward to see Ikihirsi’s sales significantly rising and our target is to reach the turnoverlevel of year 2008, which was the highest in the history of Ikihirsi.
